Rebeca LaRosa, CEO and Owner of Moza Med Spa, Inspires Transformative Beauty Through Personalized, Innovative Care

Q: How long have you owned Moza Med Spa, and what inspired you to start it?
RL: I have owned Moza Med Spa for five years. I worked for a med spa and realized I had more clients requesting my treatments, so I decided to start my own med spa.
Q: What does the name Moza mean to you personally?
RL: Moza is Spanish for an attractive woman.
Q: How has your background and experience growing up in Costa Rica influenced the way you approach beauty and wellness today?
RL: I grew up in Costa Rica and graduated from the Universidad Autonoma De Centroamerica, San Jose, Costa Rica with a degree in Tourism. I love adventure and growing up, I was also involved in beauty pageants and became a professional model. I always loved science as a child too, so I ended up combining my love for science and beauty together and opened my own Med Spa later on in my career.
Q: How did you first become interested in healthcare and wellness for women?
RL: As mentioned, I have always loved medicine and science. Before opening Moza Med Spa, I obtained a certification in Expanded Dental Assisting Duties and Dental Assisting from The American School of Dental Assisting and took a job as an Orthodontics Registered Technician earlier in my career. I enjoyed the cosmetic aspect of orthodontics and combined with my upbringing in Costa Rica and being involved in beauty pageants and modeling. This led me to my interest in helping women feel confident in their own skin.
Q: What’s one thing clients are often surprised to learn about your treatments or philosophy?
RL: My clients know that I am a big advocate of natural beauty and even though Moza Med Spa offers injectables and fillers, we educate and offer women a wide variety of natural beauty services.
Q: What advice would you give to other women, especially those coming from another country, who dream of starting their own business?
RL: My advice is to believe in your dreams and to apply all your efforts to reach as far as you want to reach. A favorite quote of mine is “All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” Walt Disney.
Q: What is one word of advice you can offer to young women who want to reach your level of success?
RL: Persevere
Q: Can you tell our audience one of your most memorable moments of your career?
RL: The transformation of many of my clients not only physically, but also emotionally after going through a procedure is extremely fulfilling.
Q: At the start of your career, what do you wish you had known?
RL: I wish I had known to be patient with myself as success does not happen overnight.
Q: Which woman inspires you and why?
RL: I inspired myself, because I knew that I have the skills to make people beautiful, happier and healthier.
Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to pursue their dream and start a business?
RL: To believe in themselves and build a well thought out business plan.
Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed in the workplace?
RL: Consistency and perseverance are the two key pieces of advice that I have to be successful in the workplace.
Q: After high school, where did you feel your career path would take you?
RL: I always knew that I would be in the medical field combined with beauty.
Q: Can you tell us how you manage your work life balance?
RL: I have had to do a lot of prioritizing, re-prioritizing and then determining what is the most important to maintain a work life balance. I always made sure that I saved time for my family first.
Q: What's your advice for women in male-dominated fields?
RL: To be fearless!
